Look into the dial of the Mandetbrote Orbital II and you find a small night sky. Blue aventurine glass scatters points of light across its surface, and around the centre a tiny geared satellite makes its rounds, completing one circuit every 12 hours and marking the hour as it passes the 12, 3, 6 and 9. At the heart of it all, a single hand counts out the minutes. After dark, Swiss Super-LumiNova BGW9 picks out the numerals with a cool glow.

At 40mm, the 316L stainless steel case is a touch more compact than the original Orbital's. Inside, the brand's own module sits on a Japanese Miyota 9015 base, with 24 jewels, 28,800 vibrations per hour and around 42 hours of power reserve, all on view through a sapphire exhibition caseback. A sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating sits on top, the case is water resistant to 50 meters (5 ATM), and a blue leather strap tapers from 20mm to 18mm. The Orbital sent the minute hand on a journey. The Orbital II puts the hour into orbit.
